Common questions

Frequently asked

Do you handle knit charts and gauge specs?

Yes. Stitch patterns, gauge (stitches/rows per inch), yarn weight, fiber blends, and panel shaping diagrams are all included in our knitwear tech packs.

Can you spec fully-fashioned vs cut-and-sewn knit?

Yes. Fully-fashioned (knit-to-shape) and cut-and-sewn knit construction each have different spec requirements. We handle both.

What about cable patterns and texture stitches?

Yes. Cable pattern charts, texture stitch repeats, and intarsia color charts are included where the design requires them.

FAQ

Knitwear questions

Can you spec V-bed/circular knit?+

Yes. We work with both V-bed flat-bed knitting (used for fully-fashioned) and circular for body tubes.

What's gauge and how do you spec it?+

Gauge = stitches and rows per inch. We spec it by needle size + yarn count + tension target (e.g., 12 stitches × 16 rows per 10cm).

Fully-fashioned vs cut-and-sew knit?+

Fully-fashioned shapes the garment as you knit (less waste, better hand). Cut-and-sew knits fabric and cuts pieces (faster, more waste). We spec both — your factory decides what they support.

Yarn callouts — what level of detail?+

We spec yarn count (e.g., 2/30 worsted), fiber blend, twist direction, finish, and 2–3 recommended suppliers.

Can you spec intarsia/jacquard?+

Yes — intarsia color blocks, jacquard color maps, and pattern repeats. Complex jacquards push to Custom tier.

How do you spec cables?+

Cable charts with cable-needle setup, twist direction (left/right), and repeat row count.

Sample turnaround for knitwear?+

10–14 days total (3–5 swatch + 7–10 finished). Slower than woven but standard for knit.

Can you suggest yarn suppliers?+

Yes. We maintain a vetted list of UK, EU, and Asia knit-yarn suppliers per fiber.
